Abstract
AIM: To study the chemical constituents of Hericium erinaceums (Hericiaceae). METHODS: The chemical constituents were isolated using silica gel column chromatography and preparative HPLC, and their structures were elucidated on their basis of the spectral data. RESULTS: Three aromatic compounds were isolated from the fruiting bodies of H. erinaceum and identified as hericenone L (1), hericenone C (2), and hericene A (3). CONCLUSION: Compound 1 is a new derivative of hericenone, and it shows cytotoxic activity against the EC109 cell line by the MTT assay.
