Abstract
Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) are pluripotent MSCs obtained from human tissue isolation. Due to the advantages of their strong self-renewal ability, pluripotency, immune regulation, MSCs have received extensive attention in the field of cell therapy and tissue regeneration. However, cell senescence caused by MSCs replication or external stimulation can hinder the proliferation and differentiation of MSCs, so it is of great significance to slow down or even reverse the senescence process of MSCs through certain intervention measures. From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, senescence is caused by spleen and stomach weakening, kidney deficiency and other reasons, so the drugs that tonify the kidney and relax the qi and blood play an important role in anti-senescence. Chinese medicine is characterized by low toxicity, multi-target, and multi-function, etc. These advantages also make it a popular field in anti-senescence research. In this paper, we will first discuss the senescence process of MSCs from the causes, characteristics, and mechanisms of MSCs senescence, and then summarize the effects and molecular mechanisms of the active ingredients in herbal medicine or natural compounds to reverse MSCs senescence, which will help promote the discovery of more anti-senescence Chinese medicine and its effective ingredients.
